Outlive a roach
Hammer, formerly known as MC Hammer, alias to Stanley Burrell. Oakland born and breed rapper who survived the mean streets to make a name for himself, is one of the first rappers to ever cross mainstream America and be successful. People laugh at him because he squandered millions of dollars and filed for bankruptcy, something that 5 million Americans do each year. Claim to fame was the songs: "2 legit 2 quit","U Can't Touch this",parachute pants and halogen wax for dress shoes. If your in the upper 20's and early 30's, then you know what I'm talking about Willis. Don't lie to yourself, because you know you wore that sh** too, I saw hundreds if not thousands of hipsters dressing like him. Race, Income, Geography, it didn't matter, Hammer mania dominated the country in the late 80's and early 90's.
But his greatest achievement and nobody will ever credit him for doing so, was signing million dollar contracts with major fortune 500 companies to advertise and endorse products and appear in commercials. No one before him had done that on a national level. Their was no P-diddly, Busta Rhymes, or LL Cool Flame, that had business arrangements or contracts to reach out too millions of the urban youth through this medium. Now, you can't flip a channel without seeing some bafoon pushing something with a hip hop angle to it.
I personally think his best album was "Lets get it started" and the single entitled: "Turn this Mutha out". That was the last time I took him serious because he really wasn't an artist, you see my hammer, he was a ENTERTAINER. The guy plain and simply could dance his ass off and I've never seen anybody who could match him. Not the freak Michael Jackson, not Gregory Hines, not even stiff ass Fred Astaire. But I saw this video on his blog and I wanted to pass it along because I think that it's cool that a 45 year old man doesn't stop doing what made him great back in the day, no matter how trifling it looks.

you know, this made me smile, I happy hammer can "rize" up. 45??? good lord, that is good, mean i can still do my thang, and just say well hammer is still doing it. but you know, 2006, i remember 3-6 mafia from way back, like around ghetto boys and under ground kings (UGK). Some stuff just doesn't go away and i think our generations love for music, dance and fashion keeps us young at heart and physically.
Thanks for bringing him back!
I couldn't stop looking at that engine red hair that was never more than 2 feet from Hammer. Now that's hot.
